Road in Retirement

  Making Space These days on my road in retirement with neurological disease it’s a constant fight both physically and spiritually. I’m fighting to live and function physically because these are the bucket list days; the times that we get out on that road without worrying about Monday or worse, kicking the bucket! But I am finding that I need help; not just physically but emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The Bible calls it a battle inside of us between the flesh which includes our brains or mindset and our spirit, which can be empowered in all sorts of positive ways by THE Spirit. Jesus saw the battle in the minds of his disciples as they fought with their human side, wanting to call fire down on adversaries, conquer the ruthless Romans, or become famous hanging out with the Messiah. For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed now we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God. 2 Corinthians 5:1-5  Swallowed in Purpose I am going to focus the next couple blogs on my journey “to be swallowed up by life.” I can’t explain this any better than the verse above; albeit loaded with symbolism and metaphors. We are born with human bodies, earthly dwellings like tents. The tents eventually decay and die, but in Christ we have opportunity to “put on a spiritual dwelling made by God."
